Co-chair: Hugh Ragg

No imageHugh brings a wide range of experience and expertise to the role of Co-chair of the ADTIA.

Hugh Ragg joined AUSTAR in July 1995 as the Field Services Manager of AUSTAR Entertainment Pty Ltd, based on the Gold Coast. Hugh was responsible for implementing and managing the training, installation processes and procedures for all Contractors throughout Australia along with managing the microwave transmitter sites based on the Gold Coast. Hugh was part of the Engineering Team assisting in the national roll out of Pay Television both wireless and Satellite across Regional Australia.

In 2002, Hugh was appointed National Technical Manager, where he managed the field Technical Managers  maintaining quality assurance and training standards. And continuing in the development of Pay Television across Regional Australia. Then in 2005, with the outsourcing of the contractor management, Hugh’s role changed to that of Operations Manager, Technical Support. Continuing to be responsible for Field Operations working with a wider Field Operations Management team.

In 2007, in addition to this role, Hugh took on the management of the third party contract for field installations. Before joining AUSTAR, Hugh had worked  with the Television  Networks In Brisbane, on contract installation of their outside broadcast for over 15 years. His skill set includes designing and installing multiple dwelling unit complex coax and fibre, domestic television work, installation and maintenance of major transmitter equipment, large satellite ground installation and the building of both small and large transmitter sites throughout Australia.

Hugh has over 30 years experience in the Radio frequency Industry and is a member of the Standards Australia Group. He holds a class 1 Riggers Licence (High Risk) and certificate in Digital Principles to complement his comprehensive Industry Experience.

Co-chair: Cosmos Vlahopoulos

 

Cosmos currently heads up business development and professional services with Jonsa Ellies Australia. He is responsible for testing OEM and local supplier products ensuring conformance with relevant standards and works closely in the area of MAVT/SMATV systems with architects, consultants and installations companies. Prior to working with Jonsa Ellies, Cosmos held a number of management, engineering, project management, business development and technical roles with FOXTEL, Tarbs, Comet Satellite and cable and AWA. Cosmos is actively involved in the industry sitting on numerous committees and working groups.

Dep Vice Chair: Percy Underwood

 

Percy is currently employed as Training Manager for Matchmaster, following on from his work there as a Communications Training Instructor. Previously, he established his own consultancy business, Straight Forward Business Solutions, which specialised in business re-engineering and support. Percy has also worked for Austar, firstly as the Northern Region Rural Manager and then as the National Operations Implementation Manager.

In the latter role, he implemented a national project management group responsible for managing and integrating newly acquired services including ISPs and a Subscriber Management and Billing System. Percy has also gained valuable telecommunications experience during his time with other communications companies, including Motorola Land Mobile Communications and Phillips Telecommunications and Data Systems. Percy holds a Cert III in Telecommunications Digital Reception Technology.

Secretary: Dominic Schipano

Dominic Schipano

Dominic is the National Executive Officer for CITT, a ‘not for profit’ national Industry Training Company dealing extensively with industry and government to implement VET ICT programs and strategies. CITT also manages the TITAB Australia Cabler Registry Services, one of the 5 Registrars approved by ACMA.

Dominic has over 35 years experience in the implementation of training and employment strategies, focused on the needs of ICT industry and employer organisations. 

Dominic assists a number of companies with the implementation of qualifications, Traineeships and/or skill sets within the Telecommunications sector and sits on the Boards of:

  • Australian Communications Electrical Alliance (ACEA),
  • Telecommunications Industry Training Network (TITN),
  • Electrical Printing and Information Communications Training Board (EPIC),
  • Australian Digital Television Industries Association (ADTIA),
  • Media Industry Technologist Certification (MITC),
  • Call Centre/Customer Contact bodies and other various government committees

Also assisting the State Industry Skills committees with implementing ICT skills in schools and enterprises. He is also actively involved in the development of the cabling programs in schools, Cadetships for the ICT industry and reviewing the auditing requirements for this training.

Treasurer: Steve Mannion

 

Steve Mannion is the General Manager Sales & Marketing for Hills Antenna & TV Systems. He has been with Hills Industries Ltd for over 10 years and is responsible for the Hills Antenna & TV Systems branches across Australia and New Zealand. Steve was responsible for setting up the Hills Digital call centre contracted to FACTS in 2001 and was also responsible for launching one of only two Freeview Satellite Set Top Boxes available in New Zealand.

With Hills providing a large range of Antenna equipment Steve has strong relationships with many of the Antenna wholesalers, Installers and Subscription TV providers. Steve is also responsible for a recent acquisition of Hills, DGTEC, the first supplier of High Definition Set Top Boxes in Australia. DGTEC now supplies a range of Set Top Boxes, Personal Video Recorders and LCD screens with integrated High Definition tuners and other consumer electronic products. Steve holds a Bachelor of Business, CPA and CPM.

Operation Manager: Kerry Ives

Kerry Ives

Kerry has worked for over 18 years in the areas of employment, training, education and youth affairs, providing advice and assistance to industry, businesses, employer groups, professional bodies, government agencies, job seekers, trainees, educational institutions and community agencies.

For the past 15 years, she has been CITT’s Operations Manager, responsible for managing the administrative, human resource and financial systems as well as overseeing a range of information and communications technology projects.

Kerry holds a Cert IV in Training and Assessment, Cert IV in Human Resource Operations and an Advanced Certificate in Art and Design.
